Piedmont Alabama Attractions
Piedmont is located in Northeast Alabama, nestled in the foothills of the majestic Appalachian Mountain range. The city is situated just 20 miles from I-20 making the trip from Atlanta, Georgia or Birmingham, Alabama less than 90 minutes. Local highways serving the Piedmont area are U.S. Hwy. 278, Alabama Hwy. 9 and Alabama Hwy. 21 providing easy access to many local attractions and fun things to do.
Piedmont is home to a leg of the Chief Ladiga Trail. The Chief Ladiga Trail is Alabama's first extended rails-to-trails project where the former Seaboard/CSX Railroad was converted into a recreational bike and walking trail. In 2008 the Chief Ladiga Trail was connected to Georgia's Silver Comet Trail completing what is now considered to be the longest paved pedestrian pathway in America. Together the trails are 95 miles long with plans for future extensions and spurs.

Clyde H. Pike Civic Center 0.7 miles
The Piedmont Civic Center was named after Clyde H. Pike, an employee at the Civic Center for 37 years. A dedication ceremony was held on April 16, 2005 to recognize Mr. Pike for his dedication to the city. Many shared memories of Mr. Pike’s love, kindness, understanding, and guidance offered to them and the hundreds of other children that he helped "raise."

Chief Ladiga Trail 0.8 miles
The Chief Ladiga Trail is Alabama's first extended rails-to-trails project. The Chief Ladiga Trail is a recreational trail where the former Seaboard/CSX Railroad was converted into a recreational bike and walking trail. The Chief Ladiga Trail is a family oriented pathway that provides a safe, non-motorized way to travel, exercise and relax while enjoying the outdoors.

Piedmont Museum 0.9 miles
The Piedmont Museum contains artifacts, information, and historical items that describe the history of the town and surrounding areas.

Veteran's Memorial Park 2.2 miles
The park gets its name from a Granite War Memorial that honors the men and women who gave their lives in World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Viet Nam War. The Park features an Eternal Flame Memorial donated by Mr. Travis Ivey, a Veteran of World War II who lost his eyesight at the Battle of the Bulge. Memorial Park includes: War Memorial, Walking track, Basketball court, pond, a pavilion, and Playground for the public to use and enjoy.

Fagan Park 6.9 miles
Fagan's Park is located off of Ladiga Street just in front of the Clyde H. Pike Civic Center. Fagan Park includes: Duggar Mountain Memorial, Walking Track, 2 Picnic Canopies, and Playground for the public to use and enjoy.

Piedmont Sports Complex 6.9 miles
The Piedmont Sports Complex is a multi-purpose facility. The sports complex includes baseball, softball and soccer fields. The complex has a field house complete with offices, rest rooms, umpire dressing room, concession stand and score booths. Two batting cages are located adjacent to the fields. All bleachers on the main four fields are covered with canopies. The Sports complex opens in late February with High school Baseball and Softball and closes in mid November with Soccer and Football.

Weiss Lake 12.0 miles
Lake Weiss is known as the Crappie Capital of the World. The Weiss lake fishery is the major economic influence in Cherokee County, so the locals treat anglers very well. Four free public access areas and 37 privately run marinas service Lake Weiss.

International Motor Sports Hall of Fame 40.0 miles
The average Hall of Fame & Museum tour can take between 1 and 3 hours depending on the amount of time you wish to spend with each attraction. You may also want to spend some significant time in the McCaig-Wellborn Motorsports Research Library, a 1,700 square foot space with over 14,000 volumes of books, magazines and other research materials, of which several thousand publications are already in place. It's the the most comprehensive collection of motorsports information on Earth.

Talladega Raceway 40.0 miles
Talladega Superspeedway is the biggest, fastest, most competitive motorsports facility in the world. Records for both speed and competition have been established at Talladega. The track offers van tours to visitors daily during working hours except on weeks around events.
